Place of the 10 Doors
Machu Picchu, Perú
To the south of the Upper Cemetery is this building, with eight doors on the main façade and two on the sides, making a total of ten (hence one of its names).
Regarding its function, there are two ideas that predominate: one indicates that it was intended to serve as a textile or potter’s workshop. The other assumes that it was a barracks or tambo that served as collective accommodation for soldiers or chaskis (messengers).
