Fountains

Among the most amazing constructions that can be seen in Machu Picchu, there are the fountains; it is a group of fountains that go down the side of a staircase; they are also known as the liturgical fountains and are worked with enormous detail in the carving of their stones, but it is not the only hydraulic construction that Machu Picchu has; a huge network of underground channels feed the terraces (platforms) where all kinds of plants were planted. Machu Picchu has excellently worked liturgical fountains, these provided water to the entire city, it has a huge network of underground irrigation channels built so that it could feed the agricultural terraces that could be protected by the raging waters of the Urubamba River, which the Incas knew as Willkamayu and which was sacred to them.
